Go to public transport

go to public transport

all announcement gets repeated in Finnish, Swedish and English

happens in your country? It gets tiring because even when they just announce the place its going it gets repeated in Finnish and Swedish at minimum since every place has Finnish and Swedish name. It might be even heard three times if the place is university or something and they announce it in English

only in German and English
Nächster Halt/Next Stop

in Finnish and Swedish at minimum

And at maximum?

Maybe on trains, if even. Definitely not on a random bus here.

as I said, Finnish, Swedish and English
Helsingin yliopisto, Helsingfors Universitet, University of Helsinki
Aalto yliopisto, Aalto Universitet, Aalto University

Yeah, Hebrew, Arab and English
I'm always with noise-cancelling headphones on public transport tho so I don't care

and English

A fate worse than death

Here it's in Japanese and then English, makes sense.
The signboards repeat it in Japanese, English, and Korean. Again, makes sense. It's a smart system and works well.

of course here they dont do it on buses though shit flashes in at least two languages on buses in bilingual municipalities

Why do you hate English
its a Germanic language just like German

French, english, spanish, german, italian, japanese, chinese

I'm always with noise-cancelling headphones

so only arabic gets filtered?
based

holy shit when they announce to switch lanes (just to make sure you are on right track) in three languages

It's usually English and Spanish where I live

no fucking way
in everything minus the destination?

happens in your country?

no, there aren't that many people who speak Finnish or Swedish here

no fucking way

Are you accusing him of being a liar?

spanish

chinese

yikes

kek
In the future smart headphones would actually be capable of that inshallah

No, there are no announcements. There's a voice when you request a stop, but that's it.

We only do it in Norwegian :)

In Oslo?

also which Norwegian

the names of the places here aren't translated here at all, the only names that are in English is the Vienna International Center (United Nations)

Yep.
Regional accents.

so anything announced in Oslo metro is only heard in Norwegian?

its clearly bilingual
if they announce something that isnt just destinations, is it in Norwergian only?

Same humilation ritual but in azeri/russian/english

There are three (3) announcements in that sequence, all of which are in Norwegian only. The first announcement is "dørene lukkes" = "doors closing".

welp if its like that then you are a rare one in the world.

at least in Vienna the busses announce the next stop but only in German

Trains: No announcement, you're supposed to read the signs at the station to see if you get out there or not. Modern trains have a display that shows the name of the next stop.
S-Bahn: No announcement either, modern trains display the name of the next stop on a display overhead.
U-Bahn (metro, underground): Announcement in German only: "Next stop soandso. Exit in the direction of the train left/right."
Buses: No announcement, but they often have 2 or 3 monitors displaying the next 4 stops.

I mean that is by nature language neutral
In Finland its more iffy

Why do Germans hate accessibility so much?

Accessibility is for lesser people.

If you're blind, the person accompanying you rides busses, trains etc. for free. Also on a bus you can always talk to the driver and sit in front, and he will tell you when to get off.

Why do Germans hate efficiency?
Now this is at least honest.

Real adults get a car

you don't even get announcements on the S-Bahn in Germany? Grim.
all the soul you are missing...

You might. S-Bahnen are always local. Where I live I haven't heard announcements.
