I do think both are quite rarely used. You would usually miss out the 'on the chair' part when talking about sitting because it's redundant.

Normalfaggots apprently use the dative casually a ton, but I honestly have never quite understood why people think either is really "dying" as people use both. It's funny seeing how I have tendency to almost overuse the genetive, rather than the dative as it feels more "clunky" and like a waste of air/space.

if you want to obsess over phonetics you use praat
obviously ipa is an approximation but it's much better than anything else in that complexity range.
