bar thing is 100% accurate, but men really do make more across all price levels. women are more likely to get a giant tip, but men get steady 20%ers all day while women get stiffed on a table every other round. whether or not the fault is on the customer is beyond me though. i just hate to see mothers lose money on tables (we tip out as a percentage of sales, not tips. you can LOSE money working)

I am in the NY area and the waiters keep their own tips and they tip out their bussers aroun 10 percent and then keep the rest. I bussed tables and it sucked dick, moved into a waiter role in a different restaurant made some good money but nothing like how the chicks were making, every table that had men in it gave them a solid 30-40 percent tip percentage.
