Spain was one of the first countries to legalize gay marriage, and one of the first countries to legalize sex change. Spanish people don't see trans people negatively, and medical and social support for trans people is widely accepted.

That said, Vox, our farthest right country, sunce 2017, has been adopting the American Right "culture war" narrative, and so they have been introducing trans people as a "problem". The irony is that this is totally against our culture. To put it in an example of how ridiculous the push against trans people from them: the party to legalize sex change was a right party, in 2003 iirc.

American cultural influence in our country has been very negative, seeding discontent and pointless cultural infighting as a medium to gain political profit.

To add to this: gender in our culture is not not seen as something completely solid, but rather more of a social role. There are plenty of old people that vote PP (right party) and see trans people as legitimely belonging to their adopted gender.
The fundamentalist "gender is chromosomal" view of gender is not very popular here except for the previously mentioned people on the right that have been exposed to the American Culture War.

That's exactly why they're like this now, pendulum swung back the other way, the Catholic repression dug its own grave by making people resent it and now Spaniards are still in their "teenage rebellion" phase of being liberated from it.
It's why historically ultra religious countries always become diehard Fedora Atheist types, Quebec is also like that. Countries which never had strong religious repression often manage to remain more moderately conservative, e.g. Germany or the UK

Yes and no. Catholic, yes. Chuddie, no. Spain was and is a very social country, where social connections and empathy is very important, which leads to an increased understanding of other's issues. Traditionally catholic boomers were the ones to pass the law legalizing sex change. After the Franco's regime ended there was further opening because people were all fed up with autocratic repression. Franco's regime was more of an anomaly in Spain, because he was unusually chuddy and orthodoxically catholic, to the point of being a significant regression in by then century old women's rights and position in society.

Most normies below 60-70 have accepted it because our media loves to celebrate it and has made it taboo to question. I don't mind them that much and like said, it's an almost insignificant issue. However, I do think they are just mentally ill people who have been adopted by the gay movement, and everyone just assumed that since gay people were wrongfully repressed since forever and then gained rights, that must mean that it's the same case for people who think that they can become something they are not by doing disgusting surgeries. Very sad and a lot of Orwellian double think involved with them trans folks and their supporters

Yeah I think most of us like don't really care what people do, but I would say most people think you can't actually become another gender... yet. But again most people don't care if other people larp as another gender even if they think it is some more of mental illness. Americans just don't care about each other and live and let live. I have only seen a few trans people in my entire life, people don't pay them much attention apart from the odd double take. The pajeet menace is a far bigger thing for the average aussie, there is much quiet discontent brewing among people I know despite the media's best efforts to try to paint the mass migration as a good thing.
