Male nurses here are in some respects lucky-I’ve met not one but two male nurses who moved here from Germany because we’ve got professional specializations for nurses that don’t exist there—nurse-anesthetists, for example. Pays really well, is marginally less grueling than general nursing, quicker and easier qualifications than med school.

Still not that popular as a career path for men, though, which is too bad. High demand, good pay, shorter trajectory to professional licensing than other medical fields… seems like a solid option. I’d rather be a nurse than a dentist (although I wouldn’t want to do either because I am squeamish and antisocial).
