Last weekend I went on a hike in the nature. Will post some pictures because I'm bored. I realise that there is another Russian flag posting pictures too, but mine will have prettier photos. If jannies decide that it's offtopic, then so be it.

Walking along the tracks, looking for a place to cross the river.

Came to this place where it was possible to cross, but decided against it and went further. It was a mistake that cost us a couple of hours.

Walking towards the place where we will walk across the river. It was already damp, but soon it will get worse.

This is our crossing. Clouds are gathering as we prepare to ford.

Here's a picture of me braving the current

We walked back along the other bank. You can see train tracks from the other side.

The scenery looks so bland

I'd fall asleep just walking there it all looks so boring. I get nature and all but this is just yawn nature not the cool one

good thread

How people get into it? I want to try, but I know nothing about it. Should I try it solo or with some group?

Crossed another stream
It gets slightly better later on, but the rain kinda ruined our plans when it came to visiting all the really good places.

Did you camp out in the open? Or why the heavy backpacks?

What’s the appeal of hiking ?

Being out in nature and the chance of finding something cool

The puddles along our way started getting gigantic
I just started walking around in the hills around my city alone, found some friends who shared the hobby later. You don't need a lot when starting out, just a backpack with water, snacks, and a compass.
We did later on

Crossed a stream with these giant leaves growing along it. You could wear them as hats.

Important question. How do you take a shit? Dig small hall wipe with paper and bury it? Or maybe you just shit while sitting on a log and shit without burying it? Do you always use paper or wipe with a moss like some people do?

Came to a fork in the road
I always made sure to shit before going out, and I can hold it for two days, so I don't know and I'm also terrified of the prospect. Probably dig a hole, wipe with some leaves or wet wipes, as you described.

You can make out a huge fallen tree behind all the leaves.

We did later on

Cool! Wild camping isn't really a thing in Germany due to the high level of urbanisation/settlements. And many forests are privately owned.
Pic rel is the landscape around my home village.

It stared getting dark after this point, and we had to hurry to the campsite. This is the final picture from day 1.
Look idyllic. I'd chill there.

Morning at the campsite. It was damp and cold, but we managed to get a fire going and cook breakfast.

After warming up and drying off by the fire, we started walking back. We were originally going to take another path back, but the weather and the resulting terrain made us decide against it. The train was going to arrive in six hours.

Made it to the bus stop where we had lunch the previous day. It only took three hours, so we still had plenty of time.

Since we had plenty of time, I decided to explore a barely visible path that lead out from the bus stop.

If I was in the woods and saw you I would rape you

The meadow gave way to this quite menacing looking forest. I thought that this path might lead me to the train station, but after thirty minutes of walking I realised that it wasn't going to happen, so I went back.

Look idyllic. I'd chill there.

Yeah it's nice.
Also is the forest you have visited being used in a commercial manner? There are an awful lot of tire tracks on the ground.

Temperate forests tend to look like that, it looks similar to the forest around a river near me.
I suppose a tropical rainforest would be more exciting, but also have a million poisonous critters.
Although Russian forests with their countless bears probably aren't completely safe either.

My group went on ahead while I was bumbling about in the forest, and while trying to catch up I lost my way a little bit, but oriented myself towards the river along which the train tracks were going. I've never seen this place before, but the train station was right across the river, so I looked for a place to cross.

Ticks are much more scary than bears.

Found a suitable crossing.
This forest is near a village, so there are locals driving around, as well as tourists like us. There are waterfalls and caves in the area, but we didn't manage to visit them this time. I was quite disappointed about it.
I carry a knife when I'm hiking

Took this photo right after crossing and drying my feet. The water was up to my knees.
I found two ticks on myself after I got home.

Yeah ticks are also a problem here.
There is a vax for the Encephalitis but Lyme disease is still a risk.
I had countless tick bites myself over the years, but I always quickly removed them and never had a problem so far. (I watch out for the red rings of Lyme disease)

nice roads huh

The final photo before I got to the little village and the train station. There were goats and geese in the village, and they didn't seem to enjoy my presence at all. The geese even hissed and charged at me, but I stood my ground.
And that's the end of this story. I met up with my group, we got on a train and went back.

A knife won't save your booty from me

Well it's not exactly a highway of federal importance over there. There are just some campsites, waterfalls and caves at the end of it.

the cave will be the place they find your raped corpse
