They won't rejoin in the next 10 or 20 years. Their politicians don't even have rejoining on the radar.
Another reason is the EU won't let them, unless there's at least a 2/3 majority for it among Brits. Because if they do, they might just brexit again after two years, and we'll have the whole drama again and again.
Also if they eventually rejoin, they won't get the same conditions again that they used to have (i.e. less financial contributions than all of the other members). It may also be that they have to promise to introduce the Euro as a currency. And finally, they will have to negotiate with every member country that could veto them.

If you want to say that breaking human rights doesn't make you eligible to be a EU member that's fine, but there is nothing undemocratic about not caring about human rights or whatever. Main advantage USA has is that companies can fire and hire as much as they want. This keeps USA productive, and allows us to flexibly allocate our labor to where they can be more productive. It also allows us to recover from downturns- layoffs just make us more efficient. We don't have people sitting in jobs where they're useless because the government made it too difficult to fire them.
