a hand of almonds

a few raw peanuts

Yes I do. I've worked lots of hard labor job and often walk 4+ hours a day when not working. 4-5k isn't even that much. There was an old paper on brickmakers finding they needed 7k-8k caories a day to get by.

I usually skip breakfast and do intermittent fasting. For lunch and dinner, I eat the same thing. Here's my regular meals.

Burritos with chicken thighs, refried beans, jalapenos, salsa, and a little bit of cheese.
Chicken breast with white rice and some kind of veggie.
Pressure cooked short rib with potatoes and green beans.
Pan fried fish with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
Burgers.

Lots of fruit and veg, adequate protein (in my case, mostly not from meat, although I’m not vegetarian; I eat a lot of fish, legumes, and a bit too much cheese), mostly home-cooked meals rather than eating out. I try to minimize my processed slop intake (I don’t eat frozen/prepared meals, for example), but I don’t do a great job of it.

Along with eating a lot of cheese, I’m easily tempted by high-fat, high-sodium snack foods (chips and the like), and junk carbohydrates like crackers. I snack thoughtlessly more often than is good for me. And while I don’t OD on sugar on a regular basis (I never eat candy and don’t drink soda, for example), I will invariably eat too much ice cream if I have it in the house.
