Whatever China can produce, it will mass produce and sell at a super low price to drive foreign manufacturers out of business (a practice called "dumping"). If a nation bans importing Chinese dumping, China will enact a massive tariff on the country until the country gives up on banning imports.

Catching up on chip technology is the only way to peacefully destroy Taiwan, and it's a massive money maker too, so the Chinese government is all-in on chip technology.
