To be fair, nobody in Czechia is calling for the military annexation and repopulation of Slovakia because of the linguistic similarity, nor is anybody in Sweden using language as a justification to try to annex Norway, nor is anybody in Spain using language as a justification to try to annex Portugal. Only in the last example are there real world consequences for the potential linguistic similarity (or lack thereof), so it isn't surprising that it leads to much more visceral reactions.
