Immigrants themselves have no problem mentioning where they are really from, (except a very small butthurt minority). In fact they often ask other immigrants this question first and are baffled when the second or third generation person takes offence to the question. You know the actual easy way to do this? If they have an accent say "Oh wow I love your voice, where are you from ORIGINALLY?" Or, if they were born in your country but still foreign looking say "Hey I'm interested in geography and world cultures, where is your FAMILY from originally?" And then since we're all Anon Babbleernationales once they say tell them what the flag looks, bring up something cultural, or if you're a real big boss drop a couple words in their language and you're in. I've been a waiter in Mexican, Chinese, Indian and Kebab restaurants so I've met a ton of foreigners and the stuff I've learned on Anon Babble over the years has unironically made me some decent cash in tips. What difference does it make? The point is Asians are much closer to Black people than whites in the American caste system. If my ancestors had immigrated to America in the 1800s, they would have been denied citizenship, denied the right to own land, paid lower wages than whites and possibly lynched.
