I complete an HR style interview with a woman on a dating app, then move to texts, phone calls and facetime.
Then I spend hundreds of dollars on dates and maybe they will have sex with me, or maybe not.

Everything is about social circles, but dating apps and Instagram are very common as well. Men have it hard.
She was Japanese so her no sex was much more believable. She used to tell me white men speaking Asian languages was a turnoff so I shouldn't try to speak any Japanese. Her moved to USA just after highschool and her English was perfect.

My plan was to learn by talking to her mom, but I never really made an effort to learn Japanese. I just called her mom-chan and she got embarrassed. Her mom could speak decent enough English as well though. Got to talk to her when her daughter was having an episode now and then.
