The crime is bad but it disproportionately effects Blacks over White and Asian south Africans. I worked with a bunch of South Africans and my ex is half Afrikaner. Afrikaners who are targeted primarily are income. The crime was worse a few years back. My coworkers sister got a new BMW in like 2019 and went through 3 different carjacking attempt in a single day. On the third one she just got annoyed and drove up on the sidewalk and opened the door to hit the guy with it. Ex's cousin also had a machete pulled on him at the beach and had to pull a gun on him. Family friends also have been shot at while stopped at red lights. Most crime is actually perpetuated by migrants from other African countries, not the Black SA Bantus. That said most Whites in SA still like it there and don't want to leave and are comfy as th crime is only a minor factor to deal with.
