I hate that this is me. Every single time my phone rings, an instant load of anxiety takes over my body. Sometimes I chicken out, others I grow the balls to answer (but still feeling completely altered while answering it)

I'm Gen X and I never answer a call except from family. Too many scammers and spam. I set truecaller to silently reject all calls not in my contacts.

I honestly don't get this, I'm really autistic, can't look people in the eye, can't hold a conversation and I have no friends other than my brother and I find calls easy as fuck. Way easier than texting, fuck I prefer to call for everything. Seriously what's so bad about calling? OMG I HAVE TO HEAR THEIR VOICE!!!!

Same here, my Grandfather's hearing is also getting worse, so he keeps making videocalls while I have to yell what I'm saying and he keeps saying, "WHAT?". I love him but it can get a bit annoying.

Without visual cues it's hard to tell when it's your turn to speak. Sometimes if there's an echo you can hear the sound of your own voice which is awkward

I prefer calls due to them being more honest conversations. Texts are vetted or postponed/ignored if something even slightly inconvenient or uncomfortable gets brought up during the convo. You're not talking to the real person. I think that's what's at the core of some people disliking calls as well. A feeling of being put on the spot and having to might have a conversation they don't like.
