Maybe I'm the one who is misinterpreting the joke but back then when gaming mices were not that popular and everyone was playing with shitty office mice that did not have a proper sensor if you swinged the mouse too fast (for example to make like a 180 degree turn quickly) the crosshair would "spun out"
