the other day the weather was amazing, i was walking outside after having an amazing meal and thought this would actually be an amazing country to live if the government did not suck. that is our only problem.
if it was a Christian country it would mog Greece in everything
Turkey would be a god-tier country if you had white people colonize it instead
you tried to do that
we kicked you wh*Tes out tho
Oh wow, that's pretty cool lol
True, that was a failure. But that doesn't mean it can't be tried again.
VGH...what could have been...
I might go on holiday here, is there any region in particular which any turk could recommend? Trabzon always seems really cool to me.
go to a beach resort in antalya
trabzon has its stuff but black sea is not good for swimming
Mehmet you need to go back.
Country is amazing for holydays thoughbeit
the land itself and the culture (minus islam) are perfect
everything about it is shit
trabzon doesnt have good beaches and no historical ruins other than the sumela monastery but the villages are beautiful, going on a vacation in a village away from the city would be cozy
Dont forget women. Man I want turkish gf so bad.
There is one small problem: it is full of Turks.
If they were still Hittite, I would move there in a heartbeat.
Russia (muslim)
wannabe dictator leader with imperialist expansionist tendencies
pining for good old times is the default mindset
had its period of secularization
10% mongol
mutts of all neighbouring countries
heavily turkified minorities
two major cities that enjoy first world standards but shithole otherwise
conservative from a western standpoint but progressive compared to most of the world
the main differences are the lack of such a visible oligarch class and lack of turkification of conquered peoples on a wide scale
This is all Byzantium's fault, by the way.
Atatürk knew this was the peak so he tried to incorporate Hittites and Sumerians into Turkish history/culture to replace islam, or the "arab religion" as he liked to call it, with an Anatolian identity in an effort to repair the damage the Ottomans did, but islam won in the end
Atatürk knew this was the peak so he tried to incorporate Hittites and Sumerians into Turkish history/culture to replace islam
Unbelievably based.
Turkey would be amazing if not for the muslims that would chop your head off for being Christian as soon as you exist Istanbul
Without Islam there would be barely any culture left.
The late kemalists closed themselves off within their elitist circle and did not want to forcibly civilize the rural plebs, especially in the east of the country. As a result, when their power weakened, they were swept away by the muslim brotherhood, sponsored by the gulffags, on the wave of "democracy". The gulfkikes got their way and put their golems back in the stable. I hope the iranian chuds incinerate them with nukes, inshallah!
Turks without islam would be like our Kazakhs. Just narrow-eyed Greeks
Erdoğan is... le BAD even though Türkiye's living standards have grown humongously since 2015, more than any country in Europe
they are very different from Greeks bro. they are always angry and try to scam each other
Authoritarianism will always mog democracy
The roots of both russian and turkish (ottoman) despotism lie in this vile state called Byzantium. Russians were influenced by byzantine "culture" from the very beginning, hence the adoption of coprodoxy, and then all the other byzantine underinstitutions. The turks were infected with Byzantinism because of the Ottoman Empire. The ottomans, like the russians, borrowed all the institutions of Byzantium and, in fact, they simply recreated Byzantium only with shitslam instead of coprodoxy. In the end, the elites of the Ottoman Empire were 99% balkanians, greeks and armenians, just like in Byzantium.
But for some reason westoids admire this wild state, which is responsible for creating the most disgusting, dysfunctional and degenerative institutions; only China can compare with Byzantium in this regard.
That’s a meme, the Ottoman government was based on persian governance ideals like most of the muslim world.
Not really, most regions still retain their local cultures even after Islam and secular attempts at assimilating them to create a national "Turk" identity. The cultures of Trabzon, İzmir and Edirne are all very different from each other and they wouldn't be the same without Islam
This is true to a degree. I disagree with your Eastern Rome hate boner but the Ottoman obsession with it is the reason why Turkey is a shithole now. Ottomans never gave a shit about Anatolia or Turks, or the other groups living here. Most of the elites and the officials were indeed Greeks and Balkanians and even though non-muslims were pretty much second class citizens they were also the richest people in the empire and the Ottomans did try to improve the life standards in the Balkans and the Greek lands
Meanwhile they did nothing other than building some mosques in Anatolia because they only saw Turks as retarded farmers and meat-shields to draft for wars
Yes, but don't forget that they are Muslims.
Anon lets be honest, those regional identities are memes at this point. Also what I was referring to were things like traditional architecture, traditional arts, cuisine etc.
Hdi is a meme. Life in Turkey has never been this bad
>coffe AND tea
I REALLY don't get the whole 'coffee/tea culture' thing. Why does nobody talk about 'chocolate culture', or 'ice cream culture'? Things that are actually nice and there is some reasonable variety and depth in the subject.
At that time, persian institutions were more turkic than persian. Byzantium is just shit and you defend it because of retarded christcuck chauvinism, admit it yourself
Caffeine junkies
I didn't know until 20+ years later that the giant heads in the Act II desert in Diablo II were based on ancient statues in Turkiye.
And what would it be like to try and go to Georgia from Trabzon, I imagine there's a pretty firm border there?
not sure because I never left Turkey myself but Turks can visit Georgia without a passport or a visa so it shouldn't be too firm. No idea how it would be for tourists from other countries though
