more words = language better

the continetal brain cannot comprehend variety

Having a bunch of words and over complicating shit is not a good thing at all. There is almost no scenario where something being over complicated is a good thing, and the same thing applies to language. A language is supposed to be a simple and effective way of conveying information, over complicating it with 600,000 words defeats that purpose.

now say that back in Belgian and lets all laugh at how little of what you said carries over

The only reason why it wouldn’t carry over is because you don’t speak Belgian

Having a bunch of words and over complicating shit is not a good thing at all.

It doesn't complicate the language. More words allows for more accuracy when expressing yourself because different words have slightly different meanings and contexts

english is gay tho its only used because its a lower common denominator

since several words can have the same meaning, this conclusion can't be drawn from this alone

English is the most evolved language in the world

French can speak perfect English, they just won't speak it to you because you are British

This vast vocabulary is attributed to English's rich history of borrowing words from various languages like Latin, French, and German,

OH NO NO NO...AHAHAHAHAH

I hate to use this retarded foid word, but this woman is the epitome of a pickme
She is incredibly desperate for male attention

It's the ultimate "safe space" language for people with gender-related mental issues.

European excellence strikes again. Thank you Englanders for your great contribution.

That still seems kinda small for living language in active use.

That’s a good thing thoughever.
Freely borrowing words from other languages and having such a large vocabulary means you can precisely express yourself or describe something.
Thank you Jorge Luis Borges.

I think that people who don't speak English fluently should be classed as non-sentient.

That’s a good thing thoughever.

Freely borrowing words from other languages and having such a large vocabulary means you can precisely express yourself or describe something.

no, it's soulless. but I wouldn't expect an english only speaker to understand

Yes. I don't care. I just don't want to memorize any dumb pictogram.

Not perfect, far from it, but it's a cliché that we are horrible at english. Many refuse to speak it out of shame, even I, I have a decent accent but I'm too ashamed to use it so I just go full french pronounciation when I have to speak english

It's mostly just you have a very strong accent that you struggle to get rid of when speaking English, Spaniards are the same.

Which Language Has the Most Words? The Short Answer: If we measure strictly by the number of words recorded in dictionaries, English is widely considered to have the largest vocabulary of any language

English is generally considered the language with the most words, especially if you count all dictionary entries, technical terms, and borrowings

This. It's just low IQ enough to be the perfect candidate as the world language

Its the best one for music no doubt.

its the best one for power metal and that is it

And yet, no word for schadenfreude, Gemütlichkeit or Fahrvergnügen

schadenfreude

epicaricacy

This doesn't really mean much
English is a mutt language. Most of its vocabulary is either multiple versions of the same word or redundant duplicate words in their Germanic and Romance versions (e.g. big vs large, gift vs present, hard vs difficult, etc.)
Also, many of those words are archaic and the vast majority of speakers have no idea what they mean, let alone use them

Greek has more words

imagine not being in the top 5 world languages. couldn't be me

Does it only count lexemas or does it count all forms of one word and all of suffixes that can be added to it?

Each of those words have slightly different meanings that the puny ESL mind could not comprehend

Yeah nothing is better for literature than stilted inflexible qrammar and a restrictive vocabulary.

It does. The reason it matters it's it's a pidgin language with several influences that are still happening today. We have a lot of words but because shared etmologies and rules you can figure out what words mean pretty easy. Like beneficial. Beneovolent. You know what the ben means which goes back to Latin for good.
The reason English is still composed and adapted this way is because it's based on trade which requires it to be a pigdgin language. That's all languages are. It's a series of signals created to get shit done. Trade.
All languages have a pidgin aspect to them it's just American English embraces its own evolution and we add in stuff constantly to avoid a grinding tryanny/oligarchy.
Slaves can revolt if they speak their own language master can't understand

Never discuss language with an amerilard. They can never, will never, nor would ever consider trying to learn any language other than English, they have nothing insightful to say about this subject.

Arabic[notes 1] 120,000

[notes 1]Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti's book "Al-Mizhar fi Eulum Allughat Wa'anwaeiha" (Arabic: المزهر في علوم اللغة وأنواعها) states that in the Kitab al-'Ayn, the first Arabic dictionary, the number of attested and potential two-to-five-consonant word stems, plus the inflectional forms derived from them, was calculated at 12,305,412.[88][89]

i think they don't use more than half of it, some of these words is so old and outdated not even efl's know them like the word " jentacular"

btw, according to desuarchive, i'm fifteenth person to use this word since 2003
