hdi is a composite measure, so it's hard to draw any meaningful conclusions from it alone
you have to look at the metrics that are assessed to reach the hdi score
it's based on stuff like life expectancy, education and income

Something weird happened because usually most countries have 0.005 to 0.010 increases at most and in this last report apart from the top ones a lot of countries grew by >0.020 which is huge considering previous reports. Look at Macedonia for example, they went from 0.765 to 0.815 in one year, like wtf??
