Like 10 years ago we had a proposal of separating schools based on performance, so the bottom 15% of students would stop dragging everyone back, and the top 15% of students would stop slacking.
A lot of "le concerned mothers" got really angry about how that's segregation and that the top performing students would get all the resources, even though the proposal specifically said the opposite since slow kids typically need more attention.

Still it got shot down. With AI around the corner I think we could probably implement this pretty easily. Upload all the kids test results and have it automatically assign the kids to more or less advanced classes based on the kids interests and performance. Doing that nowadays would require a ton of work and bureaucracy, but still. A kid that only does well on some subjects shouldn't have to be forced to juggle math, history and geography too.
