Whether as the defendant, the witness, or a jury member?
How was the process, in your country?

Grade 10 english field trip, apparently anyone can walk in and listen
Never got jury
Grade 10 was when we visited the parliaments. Most boring shit ever.
Was once part of jury selection for a furry that murdered a family of furries.
Oh I did that for fun way before the muzzie. You can't go in half the halls anymore.
I hope Karmelo Anthony does the same thing geg
oh dang didn't know they changed that forever
Yeah did this in law studies, just all brown people even in my south island town.
It was all crackheads and MC jackets with assault charges.
Only when my parents were divorcing,
Faggot judge made me choose who do I want to live with my dad or my mom
That faggot judge ruined my whole life
Who did you choose?
Mom
Rookie mistake
Same but it was real animals. It sounded like something like that anyway.
Went to see one with my class in high school.
Was a gypsy who tried to steal from a restaurant. His defence amounted to "I was so drunk that I thought the 40x40cm cellar window was a door", judge called his bullshit and gave him a month prison or something like that as it was a repeat offence.
niggedi-naggedi-nuggedi
Dui arrest after working three 12 hour days in a kitchen and falling asleep at the wheel trying to get home. Ruined my life and still ruins me even with absolutely no previous offense whatsoever.
no I'm swedish
Never. Wife did have a lawsuit with insurance, but her lawyer did all the things and we never had to go to court.
Why support that murderer?
Uhhh don't drink or get high??
I've been able to dodge jury duty because I can't drive. Living in a rural area with methheads can have its perks.
NOOOOOOO, THE HECKIN BROWN SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR A CRIME THAT HE DIDN'T COMMIT!!!!
Why are chuds like this?
You cant be murderer if you defend yourself
Our Civil Procedure prof brought us twice to actually see how the shit we were studying worked in practice
I could've gone for Criminal Procedure as well but I don't care about criminal law
'not found guilty' doesn't mean he didn't actually do it
in dubio pro reo nigga, your suppositions don't mean shit
Why do you think that you know more than a group of his peers that spent weeks, if not months listening in to all the facts?
was part of a jury for a paedo (at the time, alleged paedo)
met a qt3.14 but was too scared to ask her out
picrel wouldve been us by now
you can't be a murderer if you stab someone in the heart with a knife, you're not allowed to have on you, for defending yourself against someone saying you have to move
Why aren't you wearing a tie even at your own wedding? The casualisation of formal wear has been a disaster
defend
Yes thats the eurocuck interpretation where you cant even fend off a home invader
USA has actual stand your ground laws.
I'm a lawyer so yh. Always glad when I don't have to go there
But the Karmelo Anthony was the invader
Since when is being in a tent in public being an invader? Did Austin Metcalf own that tent?
That was the tent of Austin's team yes, that tent was reserved for that school.
Karmelo was just asked to move, that's no reason to stab someone to death.
Witnesses told police that Anthony was sitting under the Memorial High School tent and was told to leave. Anthony allegedly told Metcalf "touch me and see what happens," according to an arrest warrant affidavit. One witness told police that Metcalf then pushed Anthony to get him out of the tent. Anthony then reached into a bag and stabbed Metcalf.
witnesses (austins friends)
touch me and see what happens
*touch*
gets stabbed
WTF HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED
twice, for dui.
first time i just let the process do its thing i didnt care, got a month in jail and 1000€ fine.
second time i hired a lawyer, i would kill myself rather than spending one second in jail again and he talked the court out of it, no jail but 5400€ fine.
weird to see the same lawyer who fiercely fought for me suddenly turn and talk daily bs with both the judge and the police lawyer once my case was done. made respect lawyers and judges, they do their job but dont let their job ruin their daily life.
Once as a teen to watch a trial.
It was a gypsy guy whole stole shit, I don't remember much more.
I have served on two juries, one as the foreman.
The first time was a civil case that I found simultaneously excruciatingly dull and very satisfying. A shithead businessman was being sued for not paying an accounting firm. He was counter-suing, saying that he’d lost all of his money because he had received bad financial advice from the accountants.
Cue a full four days of detailed discussions of forensic accounting and accounting malpractice. Zzz.
In the end, the way the points of the case were presented to us as jurors enabled us to essentially rule against both parties. Yes, he’d received bad financial advice, but no, the firm was not obligated to compensate him for his losses. But he was clearly not in a position where he could be realistically expected to pay the outstanding bill. (Dude was basically truly broke, and ended up declaring unusually non-fraudulent bankruptcy).
Second time was just depressing. A drunken, drug-addicted loser was arrested in a car seized driving wildly around, off-road, in a railway freight yard. Criminal trespassing, driving under the influence, etc. We found him guilty, but in retrospect we probably shouldn’t have, or at least not on all charges, because it’s possible that the friend he claimed was actually driving, and who supposedly fled the scene immediately before the cops dragged him from the hood of the car (where he was sitting by the time the official bust took place) really existed. He certainly looked like a guy who would drive drunk and high all over a train station, but in retrospect there should have been enough reasonable doubt to save him from immediate conviction. One of the arresting cops claimed he saw him behind the wheel, but his public defender insisted he never was.
I left the US permanently shortly after that, but should I ever go back and be summoned to serve again, I will try to get myself recused on the grounds that I don’t believe in the validity of eyewitness testimony.
suck my fucking dubio man
that's not what i'm saying but he may as well be. by flipping off the court he is disrespecting the very judicial process that you just described. they have to give it a fair go whether or not you're guilty. why be offended at that?
And a shove is a reason to kill someone?
Karmelo should be charged for life, any supporters of him 25 years.
One of the reasons I prefer civil/commercial law, working with written documents is much better than putting people in jail on the basis of fucking visual testimonies
Went there with school to watch a trial. It was really funny seeing all the names of the people on trial that day when we entered the building. Not a single swedish name.
witness
How was the process
i was a minor witness the guy told me id have to repeat it all if asked but that didint happen the main two guys the lawyer and the judge just asked me if it was like i wrote it was,i said yes and i went home 10 minutes later.
Your honor my client clearly established a verbal contract with the victim when saying I quote "touch me and see what happened", and said victim implicitely agreed to the contract by touching my client, thus then seeing what happened as stipulated in said contract.
Such a contract would clearly be null and void due to violation of imperative norms and nullity of the object (physical harm) and also for an absence of cause
Well actually it wouldnt because dumbassayswhat?
And actually isn't a contract only null if violence was used before or during its signature? If so I rest my case.
Bodied that freak
starts sweating
"n-no further questions y-your Honor"
That would lead to its annullability and not outright nullity in Italy, but nevertheless the contract is null because it disposes of a good that is untouchable according to art. 5 of our civil code, that is physical integrity
Yes.
I was a witness/victim of a drunk driver who struck my car in a head on collision.
Ukrainian manual labourer.
He was sentenced to 4 years in prison
Okay, what about sports where you can get hurt like boxing then? Who do those get a pass?
That was actually an interesting bit of Italian jurisprudence in the past decades
For the longest time judges considered contracts regarding sport performances to be a perfect shield against any sort of criminal liability for physical damages, for no clear reason; only in the last 20 years they began attributing criminal responsibility for sport conducts where clearly the intention was to hurt the opponent
I've been called for jury duty and had to show up but then the trial didn't happen. I dressed up and everyone else was was in sweats.
Only a law student.
*as a
Fix'd.
Uh, neat
Are you a lawyer yourself?
Not at all lmao, guessing you are
eye withness testimony should never be given that much relevance. its easy to do so but you got the suspect saying
i didnt do that
and a withness saying
you did that
who do you believe?
Yes.
I told the other layer to wait his turn to speak,.as I was answering a question from the judge, and he got mad and started pounding on the table kek
Exactly, that's why I'm a balding ass nigga
kek
Yes I was the defendant being charged with grievous bodily harm, process in Australia is that the judge is not impartial but acts more as a "fact finder" at times he can act on your behalf and defend you against the prosecution questioning their questions and doing the job your solicitor would do, evidence entered into a trial is consider to be factual by the judge the only difference is how each side interprets that evidence, in my state there's majority verdict so can find someone guilty with 10 jurors rather than 12
I ended up in gaol for a few years
