they lied to you there my young zesty friend

10 weeks of minimum

yeah sure buddy

its just because americans are deracinated mongrels who lack the spiritual purity europeans have

I would move to America in an instant if i could, Europe is for aspirationless retards who are happy living in a shed for a house & clogging up A&E

Grass is always greener...I often fantasize about what if I went to Miami University, dated tall beautiful blondes, married a wealthy one, had a beautiful suburban home by the water with a boat in St Petes and a big beautiful truck I'd take to go fishing or go to the mall with my family and little blonde children.
I am secretly jealous of the American way of life.

Americans genuinely never think of Europeans, I feel like that is something europeans have a hard time genuinely grasping. Like most Americans will goes years without ever thinking of their continent or their people once.

We constantly want your traditions, your white skin, your way of life.

it's the same as the USA except poorer and with foreign languages

yes we know americans are uneducated and extremely self centric

I can only dream of 10 weeks. Last time I took any time off was last year and I only took 2 weeks after much bargaining and compromising. I essentially was still required to work. But instead of the regular 10hrs a day it was more like 6 hrs a day remotely.
Us rimmies (Nicolas) have to keep the economy going.

Americans genuinely never think

We knew

this perspective is much closer to reality than the idea that americans want to be europeans. Americans never even dream of imitating other countries. They’re almost impossibly self satisfied

we

sounds based

The thing is, your country was built on slavery. Mind you, most of Europe did too but we ditched the slavist mentality, you are stuck with it. Sometimes I think you only abolished slavery because it was cheaper to have a regular worker you can treat like shit.
Things won't change until you renegotiate your relationship with government and big companies.

I work for a european company and they give us 7 weeks of PTO a year between holidays and just normal PTO so it's really not that far off

No American even thinks about Europe. These are click bait for retarded European redditors

I thought 5 weeks paid leave was mandatory in france

I am a Canadian and I wish with all my heart that I was born a European. My family came from Norway a few hundred years ago and as far as I am concerned it's been all downhill since.

I have the pelasure of knownig plenty of Europeans because I play in an orchestra and we have a few Euros on exchange. I think to be a European is simply to be better, in many ways.

A north american has to fabricate his entire self from scratch in a cultural wasteland. We can become something, but it takes a huge amount of effort and it will always have some unseemly element of artifice to it. A European in his homeland is starting out on the shoulders of those who came before him; the air stirs with cultural force and vivacity.

Stefan Zweig wrote "I pity those who were not young during those last years of confidence in Europe. For the air about us is not dead, is not empty; it carries in itself the vibration and the rhythm of the hour, it presses them unknowingly into our blood." I think that very much summarises my thoughts on what it must be to be a European. They will never understand the utter loneliness of being a North American who knows what he doesn't have, cannot have.

you do know that if you sound anything like Daniel Craig or Pierce Brosan you'd easily be able to get a green card from an american slut, right? They love british men

In canada it's slightly over a year. Either 12 or 18 months, split as desired amongst the parents. It was lovely when my son was born, having the time to be home to help my wife until she was on her feet, and then for her to have an entire year home with him.

sure buddy, whatever helps you sleep at night

So, what happened?

Even the lowliest European pleb living in a shitty apartment is worth a handful of well-educated, "successful" north americans.

I'm eating a burrito right now
Europeans could NEVER

You get a certain number of days but you have to agree with your employer on when you can take them and they can just say no. Technically you get extra days if you do but he can say no to these as well. It is illegal up to a point but I don't have the means to take him to court over this and I need the money.

Europeans could NEVER

Rather, Europeans *would* never, because Europeans don't shovel poison into their bloated, auto-immune-ravaged bodies. They are sitting in a cafe right now, as we speak. The sun is shining on their golden hair, and they are sipping a coffee that tastes better than you can even imagine (there isn't even any HFCS in it, believe it or not!) and watching an endless procession of healthy, happy, beautiful people with rich inner lives pass by. Not a marvel movie in sight.

Tasteless, low-quality house on a featureless lot with a dying lawn? No biodiversity? Tacky, poorly-installed vinyl siding over a quick-grown softwood-framed shack? Lawn furniture cushion exposed to UV light shedding billions of particles of microplastics into the local environment?

Yep, that's North America alright. You got me, looks fantastic. I sure am glad I am not sitting overlooking the meadows of Schynige Platte or eating some healthy food with my good-looking friends in Copenhagen.

The gold standard was largely abandoned during the Great Depression before being reinstated in a limited form as part of the post-World War II Bretton Woods system. The gold standard was abandoned due to its propensity for volatility, as well as the constraints it imposed on governments: by retaining a fixed exchange rate, governments were hamstrung in engaging in expansionary policies to, for example, reduce unemployment during economic recessions.

Pretty clear that loosening access to credit means bigger returns for shareholders, all other things being equal. Also Europe is different from the US in that wealth inequality was always relatively larger so there has been less room for money printing to increase the gap between workers and shareholders. Also you have always had much higher taxes and social support than we do so the growth in either compensation or productivity has been much slower

All Europeans live in Milan or the like 3 arrondissements in Paris that are actually nice

The average European lives in a car centric mid sized industrial town.

The average European is wearing a tailored linen, open-chested shirt, designer sunglasses, and boat shoes, sipping frangelico on a seaside patio while listening to some absolutely sublime Josqin Du Pres motets and smoking a cigarette.

You're beyond delusional if you think any normal American sits around thinking about fucking Poland lmfao

Factbomb

by retaining a fixed exchange rate, governments were hamstrung in engaging in expansionary policies to, for example, reduce unemployment during economic recessions.

Seems to me like it was an obstacle to keynesiansm which usually goes hand in hand with consumer-side politics so it shouldn't be a bad thing, also didn't Nixon almost suggest the idea of universal basic income back then?

You're beyond delusional if you think any normal American sits around thinking about fucking Poland lmfao

I don't think that the average American sits around thinking of much of anything, actually. They sure do sit around, that's nearly all they do in fact. but there isn't much thinking.

Something all people need to keep in mind when speaking with an American is that most of them have never left their country. Many have never left their state. Physically, they have been nowhere, mentally, they have no curiosity to explore either. They consume what is shoveled into the trough in front of them and proclaim that it is the best.

dats rite

I don't know why, you earn a ridiculous amount of money and can actually buy houses.

The truth of the matter is that Americans are extremely jealous of Europeans. We constantly want your traditions, your white skin, your way of life. Americans worship and love Europeans.

the claim that Americans are extremely jealous of Europeans and worship their way of life is an oversimplified and inaccurate representation of the complex and nuanced relationships between the two cultures

I don't know why, you earn a ridiculous amount of money and can actually buy houses.

Money and shitty timber-framed houses in spiritually dead suburbs can't buy the spirit that was never breathed into a single North American. I don't believe in souls, but the concept of the sould is the best way to understand what we lack. I would not wish this on my worst enemy.

Your towns and cities do look utterly soulless, even shitholes here have a soul.

sounds like ur thinking of a super specific group, like rich folks vacationing on the french riviera or something. most yuropeans are just wearing jeans, a shirt, and sneakers, prob chilling at a café with a coffee and some bland rap music playing on their phone.

the picture you painted is kinda over the top but i get the idea, ur just over romanticizing.

if thats your dream version of europe, its retarded and inaccurate cuz most people are just keeping it comfy and casual.

I have been to Europe a few times, and even in the poorer areas, like Budapest, the average eprson is healthier, dresses better, and has a more robust acquaintance with the arts and with culture than even a very successful north american.
