despite what many swede flags here say, i see a lot of immigrants "assimilating" in a way. I'm 19 and I have many friends who are half swedish half somali. half swedish, half kurd. half yugoslav half swedish etc etc
there parents (mostly mothers) are usually from lower classes of swede society and they all grew up in our public housing suburbs (miljonprogrammet). I also grew up there because I was poor and my dad was drunk who left my mother and i so we had to relay on the gov... It's a weird type of assimilation but its slowly happening. Most of these guys parents came here in the 90s and they married ethnic swedes.

I wonder what the future will be like as our sub set of culture continues to become creolized. It doesn't help that social media and internet exists now and everyone is interacting and has similar interest, hobbies, listening to similar music.. its hard for many of these new migrants to keep their culture. It's uncomfortable reality many swedes refuse to discuss. Even, i myself have had a realtionship with a girl who was assyrian yet she didn't speak assyrian or speak arabic, she spoke swedish and was pretty much swedish in her mannerism. My mixed friends are the same way

Like you said they are second generation and also half swedes. Being half swedes they already had a somewhat swedish upbringing at home and also grew up in sweden. Not integrating usually happens if you still live your own culture at home and mostly associate with people from where you are from. While they already have swedish influence at home and grew up in sweden. The immigrants most people complain about are those that just continue to live like they are still afghanistan or somalia and sometimes even shape their environment to be more like afghanistan or somalia and reject the local way of living.

isn't hard for people to say in ethnic enclaves if they're forced to interact and adopt customs of natives? i don't know much about Sweden but i do know that they don't have fully ethnic enclaves but rather mixed ones with different migrants living together alongside what I would assume are poor natives.
