Does your country have mormons?

Apparently but I've never met any or seen them around.

Yes although they don’t call themselves that, they call themselves LDS or seven day evangelists or whatever. It’s funny, one of them complained about Visual Studio Code having a Santa hat for Christmas and became a Anon Babble meme some years ago. Like all Mormons he claimed to be a Jew, I don’t know why they do that.

how do britons feel about them?

I need to convert to Mormonism
Only based form of Christianity I know of
Agreed anons?

Brits will only have heard of them via your media, are you a Mormon? I'm obsessed with theology and religion but haven't got round to researching Mormonism yet.

been to the mormon temple in DC, cool building and the mormon bloke infront was quite pleasant to talk to

I came across two missionaries one time yeah. Nice enough lads, but just believe in some strange stuff.

there's a mormon church in my city so i assume there's at least some

the church only started disliking the word mormon relatively recently interestingly enough, so mormon works for now since it takes time for people to adjust and it wont be taken offensively by most of them
did you ever read it? its a kind of fun read even as a non-lds
im not but i come from utah and have alot of mormon family and friends
im glad you had pleasant interactions with them, the missionaries try really hard to be friendly and helpful and are usually good people

I went to Temple Square in SLC and it was full of young Mormon women from around the world telling me about their religion. Felt like a tradwife honey trap.

did you ever read it? its a kind of fun read even as a non-lds

I read it up to the second book of Nephi and got bored. It's been a while and the only part that I can vividly remember is the one where God punishes the non-believers by darkening their skin.

Is there any difference between LDS, Mormons and seven day evangelists? Or do I just have the terms confused?

do mormons have beef with jehowa's witnesses?

I think all religions have a beef with JWs

how so?

from what I understand they are jehova's witnesses lite, is it true in any capacity?
have you ever heard anything good about JWs?

LDS = Mormons (basically, there's some splinter groups)
7th Day Adventists are something entirely different

Thanks

Felt like a tradwife honey trap.

thats exactly what it is,
alot of people convert into the religion to marry missionaries
ah lol, fair
LDS and mormons are the same. i wanna say seven day evangelists are different if youre talking about who i think you are (adventists)
i want to say JW-lds relations are about as friendly as JW relations with any other faith or denomination but im not sure, sorry.

from what I understand they are jehova's witnesses lite, is it true in any capacity

i wouldnt say the mainline LDS church is. the fundamentalists are. mainline LDS are relatively close culturally to the rest of american protestantism and still celebrate holidays, unlike what ive hward about JWs.

Yes I got them confused. They’re just weirdo Protestants. Thanks anon.

JWS are bible nerds

Not sure about Hinduists and Buddhists but muslims kind of regard them as heretics (while they regard Christian’s and Jews as proto-muslims). Christians consider them heretics as they reject the trinity.

dumdumdumdumdum

What's Utah like?

youtu.be/uv5W1eFVtSs?t=60

LDS=mormons
they believe in the book of mormon and that Jesus came to America after being in jerusalem
seventh day adventists are more in line with protestantism, but they do some weird stuff like church on saturday and do the jewish thing where they ban 'work' on it so they cant do anything else
mormons do a better job appealing to non members

its alright i guess. summers are miserable unless you escape into the mountains, the natures pretty, you cant buy alcohol over 5% outside of state-owned stores or bars/restaurants, there are alot of mormons. sometimes you run into FLDS/polygamists which is kinda strange, the state food culture is a wasteland

whats the typical utah food?

its mostly typical american stuff and teximex, but "utahn cuisine" would include frog eye salad, fry sauce, green jello, funeral potatoes, and utah scones

i forgot the picture sorry

frog eye salad

I'm not sure that's better than what I was lead to believe

i did say the food culture here is a wasteland

funeral potatoes, the top layer is cornflakes

utah scones

that does look tasty

theyre a good once or twice a year treat.
i like em with milk

cornflakes

Fucking why?

Now the mormons are rebranding, they are increasingly christianizing their religion to be more like other denominations and not to scare off potential converts. And this is sad, it was a unique culture with its own characteristics. But they decided to sell their birthright for lentil soup. This is so mormover

its easy for lds housewives who make the funeral potatoes for very very large gatherings of people i guess
dont worry, there are plenty of FLDS and polygamist colonies that keep the old ways

We do have a temple but I doubt there're many native converts.

Not that oldfashioned. Polygamy is bad.

Yes i see more and more every few months. A lot of them inside Stockholm central areas, and i’ve seen a bunch near my university campus

its a nice temple
its one poison or the other i guess
have you talked to any of them

No, i don’t know why they’re here really. I assume they’re american because their badges are in english, not swedish.

i don’t know why they’re here really

if youre noticing more pour in that probably means their missionary efforts are working and the church noticed

no, we don't like traitorous heretics

Mormons are freaks and should all be rounded up and gassed
