They are Turco-Mongolians, even their alt flag has the Turkic crescent. Mixing between those two already happened in early days and genetically, they cluster closest with Uzbeks and Uyghurs. Uzbekistan was richer than Kazakhstan some time after soviet union collapse and during soviet times. It had more industries, more easily extractable resources like gold and oil, better infrastructure etc. They fucked up everything, even the aral lake which affected us too
