I was just in the Mississippi Delta a few days ago and it is amazing. I'm not even the biggest blues fan but the culture is still alive and it really feels like another county in a lot of ways. Many counties are 80+% black in the delta and it's the heart of black music that would go on to change the world. You go to these tiny towns that look rundown and abandoned but the people are so hospitable and you might be walking the street and hear music coming from a little shack and realize there's somebody playing the blues. It's amazing.

And there were some pretty towns in Jujuy the stretch from Tilcara to Humahuaca and in Salta down by Cayafete was nice. But the variance in landscapes was the main thing. Some of the best red rock landscapes outside of south utah that I've ever seen (though not as expansive).

Also, rural black areas I felt very welcome and safe. I was walking through neighborhoods where if it was a big city and looked as rough I'd feel maybe I shouldn't be there. But in these towns strangers come up and ask why you're there and what you're up to and if you want to go shoot pool. I know a lot of these towns do have a crime issue when you look at the stats. But I felt super safe and welcomed and the music and food was great. Some of these places I was the only white guy in the building shooting pool or hanging out but felt very at home and welcome. I feel like if I was in some bad area of a city it wouldn't be the same.
