Soon to be mosque
i like orthodox churches. could use a little more detail
Is this temple similar to Western European temples?
Soon to be mosque
the fate of all European churches...
Today, Americans are the only guardians of Christianity (if they aren't democrats and liberals of course)
How exotic the Orthodox churches look in the eyes of cultural Catholics and Protestants?
Catholics
sorta similar but too colorful
Protestant
papist heresy, everything must look like a barren barn shed
yes
by the way Reagan was here (inside)
despite the fact that Finland was part of the Russian Empire, it is still weird to look at Orthodox churches in Finland, which IS stereotypically imagine as a Lutheran country
there's only one orthodox church in denmark so it's very exotic
akshuyally Finland was its own country that had the same monarch as Russia. It was never legally part of the Empire. The Russian Emperor was the Grand Duke of Finland but that’s it.
orthodoxy and islam are very much alike desu
orthodoxians will cope, seethe and dilate but it's just true
name 5 similarities
even Iconoclasm didn’t persist
it's okay. 6/10.
depends what you mean as "orthodox church" since there are various styles, Balkan/Greek style is quite different from Russian.
1. both are exclusive to thirdies
onion domes
acceptance of corruption and mismanagement in the government
lack of innovations
strict rules
worshipping arabs (in terms of orthodoxians it's only women but still)
That's normal, Orthodox churches don't have a single style because each nation has its own church for its own people.
I never expected an intelligent response from a Pole anyways. It seemed like a nice educational thread for a while.
you will never be Greek, Iki
All 4 happen in most other Christian churches, and we don't have onion domes and neither do most of the Balkans
acceptance of corruption and mismanagement in the government
bro, a fucking Catholic dares to say shit about corruption. There was a Medici cunt who became a cardinal at 12 cus his daddy pulled some strings.
lack of innovations
a dogmatic religion is bad because it doesn’t innovate? You realize that’s Protestant heresy in the eyes of the Catholic church, right? Why are Poles like this, seriously?
...and still catholic corruption is less than a fraction of what it is in orthodox churches where it's totally institutionalized so it's not even looked down upon
a dogmatic religion is bad because it doesn’t innovate
it's less about religious dogmas but more like discouraging innovations in regular life, they just want to keep their sheep living like 1000 years ago because it's easier to control them
no it would look exotic here
I don’t remember a literal child becoming an Orthodox bishop because his dad was an influential merchant. You are free to provide examples.
remove golden domes and maybe it will pass
that's just survivorship bias
you only know about cases of corruption in the catholic church because there are still catholics who don't agree with it and bring these cases to light
meanwhile in orthodox church corruption is so deeply embedded in their structure so they cannot even separate it
you simply recognize that it is there by the fact that all, literally all without even one exception orthodox countries are backward and poor
Really nigga? I don’t even want to seriously respond to this. This is like a joke writing itself.
remove golden domes and maybe it will pass
I have since 1991, the Orthodox Church has been reduced from golden domes to just a separate cult of worship. I have noticed that many Orthodox churches that now have golden domes were completely absent in the Russian Empire, and looked much better.
Slightly reminiscent of mosques because of all the domes. I think the only Orthodox church people can think of is the big famous one in Russia (I forgot if it's in Moscow or St. Petersburg).

Fuck... Why the image is so small?
A couple of more photos then.
a bit depressing with the exterior slightly damaged and nothing but endless forests in all directions
would make for a cool horror map in a video game
good color scheme, clean and well built, but walls are too smooth and no stained glass
7/10
we have 150
we have over 300
some are really beautiful
en.wikipedia.org
It was a quite cute place before soviets. Only a couple of churches survived.
Oddly enough, Bavarian churches and some churches from Central Europe also have domes similar to Orthodox ones
here's my local church
Bolshaya Ordynka Street?
