this is the worst job market i have experience in my life so far. i have applied to probably 300+ jobs over the past year and during that time i got 3 interviews, made it to final interview twice, got rejected from one after the final and i'm waiting to hear back from another that is gonna offer me 25k LESS than my current job
i have a job but it's fucking terrible and i hate it but the pay is decent so it's incredibly hard to leave but it just makes me more miserable

I’m 27 with a degree trying to get a desk job but never worked one before and haven’t been able to get one in the year or two of trying to get one and so I don’t know if it’s normal or not to never get an interview. I had like 2 interviews within this year. I refuse to wage in brown shit. I am planning to go back to school for a post grad that’s always been in my plans but failing to get a job that I know soccer moms who’ve never gone to college currently have is a bit demoralizing.

Just whatever, call centers, administrative assistants, paralegal (I have a paralegal certificate), sales, etc.
I’m going to law school in the fall but getting anything above serf job is impossible.

Tech is absolute trash right now.

first job in 2016 took maybe 15 applications over roughly 2 months

second job in 2019 took under 10 applications in the same timespan

current job (started 3 months ago) took over 100 applications and almost a full year

Nothing weird on my resume either - no gaps and no weird history to explain. The interview process is bullshit too, every interview is 4+ rounds, I got to the "final round" multiple times before getting the same template rejection email, and HR doesn't give feedback anymore even if you've been interviewing with them for weeks. I can't imagine how shit it is for new grads.

I started working as a welder in 2023 and everyone in my class got a job. A friend that became a welder in 2024 still hasn't found a single job, and neither has anyone else in her class. It's ridiculous how bad the job market is, the companies refuse to hire but at the same time they complain about a lack of welders. An entire generation of tradies are retiring now but companies can't fill their spots since they never botheres hiring and training replacements.

Who cares? I hope they never find a job
