Illyria was a military colony where the retired soldiers were sent and served as border control of the area.
So there were quite a few developed cities and I suppose they assimilated a lot of the natives that became important in politics later.
So, it was important.
But the forests of Bosnia, Albania, Montenegro were not.

It has nothing to do with the Anjou dynasty. Hungary did own Bosnia for some time but the Anjou were not the ruling dynasty when they did.

During a succession crisis in Croatia and Hungary, one Croat oligarch (Pavao Šubić) made a deal with the Anjous for the King of Naples to send his grandson as a claimant to oppose the Hungarian Arpad claimant, in return, he'd get the support of most of the Croatian nobility. The Anjou guy (Charles Robert) came on top and became King of Hungary and King of Croatia, with a coat of arms featuring the fleur-de-lis along with local symbols.

Bosnian lords were initially vassals, with Kotromanići marrying their daughter to one of the Anjou kings, but later went to war with the Anjous with Kotromanići creating the Kingdom of Bosnia, and for whatever reason the Kotromanić house adopted the French fleur-de-lis on their coat of arms, possibly as a claim attempt, with it later being turned into a symbol of Bosniak people.

My grandpa lived there, family originated from Montenegro. They were alright back in the day, they're alright now too but severely brainwashed. Overall, there's no real ethnic tensions there, but a few of them invented some bullshit about how Serbian army wanted to provoke them in the 90s and even gave them weapons so we'd have a pretext to kill them and that there's still trenches above their city the evil Serbs dug to prepare.
