How do I actually write, speak and make myself sound natural? I've immersed for years now and can understand the vast majority of stuff that passes my eyes and ears, but I just can't replicate them or at least not in a way that sounds natural and I end up using words that sound out of place like in my above post.
It's humiliating now, because a lot of people now see me as "that guy who knows Japanese" and yet I can't have a conversation without sounding unnatural and it kills all self-esteem and makes me wish I had chosen a different hobby.

in what sense is 引っかかる used when talking about search results? I see that it means something like appearing as a search result or being found through the search engine from an example but looking at the dictionary confuses me a little.

First of all, yes, this sentence is not perfectly natural, but at the same time it is far from being totally unnatural. With a few minor corrections, it'll become natural. I think you are underestimating yourself too much.
Also, that 君子 Americanon staying in Finland atm has already pointed out the main grammar points (), so I don't have much to add.
What is meant by 民話にかたるもの is ambiguous. If you are referring to a history book in which the course of historical events is described as if it were a novel, you can use 物語のようにかたるもの (and indeed, there are history books of that type).
Putting these ( and my comment) all together, you'll have for example,
日本史知らない人* におすすめの* 歴史書ありますか?
特に侍のやつがほしい。物語のように* かたるものもあったら教えてください。
(おすすめの is an adjective-like phrase meaning "recommendable".)

My impression is that the search engine runs exhaustively over the web and stops wherever it finds the requested item. Of course it'll show its findings later as a search result.
Reminds me of fishing. Internet is the sea, search engine is your pole and the result you find is the fish that gets hooked on your pole.

じーさんの葬式の時なんだけど。
俺もあんま知らない親戚の子供(4~5歳)が葬儀中に騒いでいた。
