French people live in my continent
French people live in my continent
Our continent
I've wondered and tried to find info on this (but couldn't), what happens if a ship from French Guiana goes to mainland France? Does it get searched? Stopped? After all it's a French ship going from France to France.
if a ship from French Guiana goes to mainland France? Does it get searched? Stopped?
Maybe if the French police suspect smuggling, but other than that a voyage from French Guiana to mainland France would be considered a domestic voyage that sails over international waters for most of its course.

Wild.
Our longest land border is with you guys, why are we still not in mercosur ?
apparently its also just regular part of eu like poland or something
Join Mercosur
LATAM happy
Actually only import French Guiana products
French farmers happy
Problem solved
WE LATINX
French guiana police is corrupted af, they do the smuggling themselves
I doubt anyone on this board can answer the question, but the reasonable thing to do would be to perform more searches for this kind of ships
rich afghan migrants go to brazil, cross the border to French Guiana then they're official asylum seekers
So ships just don't get checked? This seems like a massive exploit if true.
Why do french cities end in -bourg? I thought that was only for former german or norman cities
I doubt anyone on this board can answer the question
Well that sucks coz I want an answer, like surely if they don't get checked then that'd be the main route into the EU right?
Bourg is one of several words that just mean "town" in French
Towns in Normandy actually tend to end in -ville much more often, which also means city/town
Idk anon, there could be other less risky routes in the Mediterranean I guess. Entering Guyane isn't easy in the first place either, it's very isolated
jews
Doesn't it come from germanic -burg?
Probably
But in Alsace -heim is much more common
Apparently it's debated, with some claiming origins from latin, some from germanic languages, and even from arabic

What would tiny Guiana have to offer?
Last I checked we already have people taking the gold.
I always wondered, do those French oversea territories like Reunion, Salomon Islands o French Guiana have european living standards or are they like their 3rd world country neighbors?
something between, much better than third world neighbors but not on same level as in mainland. French guyana has much higher salaries and hdi than its neighbors.
Salomon Islands
This one's not ours
For the rest, it depends but living standarts are usually below those of continental France, but with variations for instance Réunion is alright whereas Mayotte a few hundred km away is complete shithole
Despite this, Comorrans flee in drove to Mayotte because their country is even more of a shithole
So I guess it's all just perspective
I always wondered, do those French oversea territories like Reunion, Salomon Islands o French Guiana have european living standards or are they like their 3rd world country neighbors?
Usually they're somewhere in between, in New Caledonia for example you have French pioneers and their descendants living alongside literal savages with smartphones who constantly riot. In Mayotte the living standard is trash but well above African standards.
It varies, a lot are 3rd world tier (there have been recurring water issues in Martinique and Comores), but then it seems that Saint Martin for instance is a richfag paradise. Then there's Tahiti which is both a paradise but also kinda underdeveloped and expensive.
Guyane is violent and poor, a distant relative of mine lived there and told me 90% of mainlanders can't stand it. It's filled with criminals, wild animals trying to kill you, hot and humid.
Halfway generally. Cities can be quite developped by there are also backwater villages with 3rd world infrastructure because the locals dont want to have the state in their affairs.
My bad, I meant new caledonia
That doesn't make any sense. It's like Alaska joining a free trade deal but leaving the rest of the US out of it. How would that work? Guianians must be svffering with food prices right next to agricultural powerhouses and they can't do anything because farmers in the metropole cockblock the EU-Mercosul deal (and that's a good thing to be honest, the deal would destroy our industry)
The most liveable is probably Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon
It's developed, pretty much fully white, small population, no natural disaster of tropical climate shenanigans, in a peaceful part of the world
Probably just very boring but well I guess boring beats the machete gangs of Mayotte or the road ambushes of Guyanne
You cannot say a place is livable if it's completely dependent of it's neighbor country
They are better off than other places in the jungle but they are mogged by the industrial areas in Brazil
Thats a rather narrow viewpoint. Luxembourg is dependent on the surrounding countries but I wouldnt say its a terrible place to live
pretty much fully white
heavenly
Pretty sure they mostly live off fishing
And yes, most places are dependent on others one way or another whether it's food or energy or others
They're mostly Normand/Breton with some Anglo admixture because of marriages between locals and Canadians over the centuries
I asume Saint Pierre doesn't have hospitals, universities, etc... Luxemburgo is small but not 10k population small
haiti
I don't care, I'm brown and need to escape niggers. The fatigue I have is real, whites are also niggers but the rate of niggardry is much, much lower.
They have a hospital and schools up until highschool
And of course stores, police, post office etc the usual
For uni they usually move to the mainland, and they can get their travel expenses paid + a free plane ticket once a year during summer holiday to go back to their island
Don't you think the Netherlands is dependent on other countries?
We had a SPM poster visiting now and then, too bad he isn't here to answer
Just go to the Hebrides or the Shetlands or something
Can't imagine there would be many pakis there
Very interesting map. Did they not put the suffixes in the overseas territories since Op's map shows one bourg in Guyane
les échanges avec la métropole ou tout autre pays membre de l’Union européenne sont considérés comme des importations ou des exportations selon le cas ;
I had to do the job for the french nonces on this website, what a shame
Yeah we need more Syrian barbers and shoarma, we are lacking
particuliers
Looks like it's only for private stuff, I also found it but the most interesting aspect would be about businesses
A lot of people in my province have visited st. pierre and miquelon. I haven't since I'm not a local. from what I hear from other though it is nice there
French Guiana is pretty bad IMO.
t. been there twice as a kid
I'm not sure why they didn't fill the overseas considering the data is easy to find
There are a bunch more maps like this online if you search "suffixes communes France" or "suffixes villes France"
better wages in some fields connected to the mainland but the rest is the same Dschungel problems, so not better in general
trade with metropolitan France or any other member country of the European Union shall be considered as imports or exports, as appropriate;
so if a person has a ship they have to do customs bs like other countries, rip
They do get checked, but they keep a lot to themselves (gold and cocaine)
My family was in caledonia part of it still his, it was fine until Azerbaïdjan started arming the commies. The comoros were good too but before they became independent same with djibouti although i dont know anyone whose lived in the latter
They do get checked
cringe
We're dependent on others when it comes to things like energy, grondstoffen, food etc. And militarily we're completely dependent
grondstoffen
