Whats stopping you from doing this iyc ?
Whats stopping you from doing this iyc ?
I have a job and two young children. I don't have time to fuck around all day weeding and mulching and looking after animals and canning shit. Nor could I afford to do so.
Summer is like 3 months long where I live..
quit your job and do this.
prettyyy
I don’t think homestead type people understand how much land you need to actually feed an entire family three meals a day for an entire year
There is a reason 90% of people are crammed into cities, because you need endless fields of crops and cattle to feed everyone. A farm you can see the edges of from your house at all times will produce enough food in an entire year to feed you for a month, maybe two.
It’s noble, i get it, but people have no fucking clue about the scale and logistics required to make agriculture work
I like to eat more meat than can be provided with this (self-admittedly) inefficiant) layout.
you cant grow jack shit on 1 acre, mostly because of so you need 4x as much land in order to produce enough for a year.
too much or little rain during that short harvest season
oh fug, no crop this summer.
Land here is very expensive and the soil quality is very poor, otherwise I would love to live like this now that I've known the horrors of post-modern neoliberal globalist totalitarian anarcho tyrannical clownworld
get a wife who will help out and have a small job which gives enough money to get through winter or government gibs, idk how that works though.
move
I have a cat and a lot of games in my switch backlog. I don't have time to fuck around all day weeding and mulching and looking after animals and canning shit. Nor could I afford to do so.
Nah, I just keep earning good money with my cushy white collar job.
I don’t think you or any >le trad homestead waifu type people get it
Lets take potatoes, probably the highest nutrient/space/yield ratio crop in existence, if you were to get ALL your daily intake from just them (we are trying to min-max here) for an entire years worth, you would need around 0.5 acres PER PERSON
Ok, but now you only have potatoes. Leafy greens have high yield, but low nutrient density, and require tons of water. Cattle needs roaming space, and hay for the winter (now you have to make or harvest types of grass for winter), have a barn.
This isn’t even counting disease, droughts, failed crops, insects, cold snaps, whatever.
Get over it. Farming is not some dainty shit your gf does in a sundress while carrying a baby on one arm, it’s a lot of work
Farms are hard work, and are a serious commitment. All of that stuff has to be tended to daily on a routine basis, no days off.
give your cat some pets for me :>
you will get FAT
I'm not le trad homestead waifu people. Also it's not some insanely hard thing to do, I know plenty of people who have a small farm and live with very little money. Idk how it works with the whether over there but your country is pretty developed so you probably can get some assistance to live like that. Also doesn't that Burzum artist do something like this in France ?
at least over here you just do this during the non rainy season and then chill for the rainy season doing your normal job. I know it's pretty hard to actually fully self sustain but starting something is better than nothing, even like chickens or something for egg.
That's my grandmother's house in the Norf, she's an old school peasant, I fucking hate going there it's depressing, nothing is clean, I could'nt even play outside as a kid because "don't walk here, beware of that" etc.
No thanks.
I'm already fat.
Varg
Iirc it's the case that the family of his retarded wife is relatively wealthy; thus he leeches of them.
That would waste a lot of space, you can plant companion plants and get better outcomes with half the land.
well do what your grandma does but do it better.
don't be fat then !!! also I didn't know I just saw that video where they say they live off of like 700 euros a month.
oh like what? I just wanna know.
this is all correct but you could have said it without all of the reddit spacing. Farming is extremely difficult and the cultures that did it before you were entirely acclimated to it from birth. You don't just wake up one day and switch to farming, it would take you years to get good at it. Also, are you aware of how socially isolating it is? I'm not saying you need to city life, but be aware that you will not make any meaningful connections with people from your cohort in farming communities. Not only will most be much older than you, but you will not understand their way of life, values, and vice-versa.
for 1000m2 of lands, in my area, it's 150K€
real life is not minecraft
oh fug, no crop this summer.
Just go pillaging lol how hard is it people have been doing it for centuries.
I'd love to have something like this for myself but I have no money.
I will die in my apartment.
it'll be good for the autism
move out of your area :p
so true. You have to stick to your white collar job or goberment gibs.
so damn pretty, I'm Jealous.
Too big. This would be perfect for me.
My land is not flat
My goats need more space than my ducks
It's much MUCH better to companion plant than it is autistically planting everything together in designated areas
goats would kill any trees in their pasture
theres no drive way
I'm gonna go sleep sorry for retarded thread :p I'd love to have this as well, it's not undoable but just really hard if you don't come from that background.
Thats really pretty too :> you can go fishe in the lake.
Goats are so cute :> I heard that they are really smart and will find ways to break out of there spaces all the time.
Yeah goats are smart but they will usually stay in if they are fed enough.
If you're still wondering what companion crops are, corn beans and squash are the most traditional companions and are known as the three sisters
I can just buy all that shit from the supermarket?
The famous american one is corn, peas and pumpkins. Peas make the soil more rich for the other two, the corn functions as an anchor for the peas to grow on and the pumpkins like the shade and fertilizer or something like that.
Beans and potatoes work great together. Carrots and peas. Putting stuff like basil or other herbs helps keep pests away. Onions and garlic also like being near beans or peas and keep pests away. It's actually hard to go wrong with vegetable pairing there's just a few pairings that end negatively, like carrots and potatoes. Or beans and peas, since they serve the same function so they end up competing.
Why is Herrmann so caked up doe
I will not do it in my country
I will do it in japan
only like 20% of all Germans own property.
War zone 2
Oh wait, onions and peas don't like each other either if I recall.
It's not that complicated if you google it.
OP literally is literally part of his country's comprador elite. He has his food cooked by a maid, his underwear washed. He is being driven to school by a driver and even has a garderner. He has never had to work a physical job in his life and for him that even includes household tasks. It's always these upper class bitches that idolize this life because it's not them that are working the fields. OP basically fantasizes of having his own little slave farm.
lol. Lmao. Good luck finding a woman who wants to spend her life digging up potatoes instead of browsing tiktok.
You don't know any women do you. Women love garden work, it's like the one hobby besides reading pornography that they have down
I wanna start growing crops. Not as a tradlife type of thing, but as a hobby, while still getting most of my food from the store
that is a lot of work, like a full time job for 2 people, no weekends or vacation btw.
it does look a lot like stardew valley though
Idk why but 4chin thought my post was spam, anyways I'm really going to sleep after this post.
I am not? My grandparents live like that basically and I don't like having other people do things for me and I do have a job! Maybe not a very demanding one but I still do have one!! I just want a piece of land to live with my husbant.
There are wimmem who like that.
That's great :> maybe you can try like herbs and stuff first as a first step?
I am not? My grandparents live like that basically
So you grew up in a family of rich landowners.
qed
if someone has the time and money to do this, shouldn't they invest in some sort of aeroponic vertical farming setup in greenhouses?
