What the fuck is wrong with Americans?

What the fuck is wrong with Americans?

epic driveable neighbourhood

1) hordes of vile subhumans, smelly, noisy pieces of shit who stare at you
2) comfy

New York is white, ese

grim
they voted for this

it just looks like that sidewalk extension/deck was owned by the restaurant and it must've closed or moved
it's not a public amenity anyway

Walkable cities are oppression o algo

Flag checks out.

are you guys still on this walkable cities shit

no one has said that since the 80s

Because America has no walkable cities or towns and I'm tired of anyone who pretends otherwise.

Every place that is mentioned as being "walkable" is really just walkable because it is more walkable than the extremely unwalkable reality that is 99% of American communities. What Americans refer to as walkable really just refers to tiny parts of towns and cities.

Even NYC, which is regarded as the most walkable place in America, is wide and sprawling and nauseating. Subway is a dump with no schedule and a hard-to-forget smell. Roads are under forever construction. Cycling is only for those with a death wish.

If you actually like walking as a hobby you have to move to Europe or Asia. Unremarkable towns in Europe or Asia offer better infrastructure and environment than the oldest/wealthiest/most advanced places in America. As a lifelong wooolker, I can honestly say walking in the forests/deserts/mountains is more comfortable. I live in a small town in New England and while the downtown could be described as walkable, you are not making it back to your house on foot without feeling like you're trekking instead of on a leisurely walk.

needs more lanes

my city is walkable i can walk all the to the beach and back no problem

Imagine advocating for a lifestyle that involves little to no walking. That is you. You can reeeee all day about WALKABLE, HUSTLE AND BUSTLE, BODEGAS!!!!!! But the reality is that the decline in walking (and its causes) have been a disaster for Western civilization.

are you guys still on this walkable cities shit

What actually happened is during covid restaurants started setting up "outdoor" eating areas in the street. During the scamdemic and until late last year they let pretty much anyone do it, then they stopped it entirely, now they're bringing it back but regulated

the motor vehicle isn't the only mechanical convenience that has contributed to the fattening and deskilling of the urban population
you're treating a symptom as the disease and all proposed band-aid solutions put forward by activists of your kind would obviously prove completely ineffectual

nooo not my hecking gentryfikerinos

Cities are for business not for living.
Humans live in the fields

Sure. But like I said, every place that is mentioned as being "walkable" is really just walkable because it is more walkable than the extremely unwalkable reality that is 99% of American communities. There's a reason why in most every "walkable" place in America the reality goes like this

walkable town

nobody's walking

and it's not *only* because people here prefer driving. That's part of it for sure. But it's largely due to the fact that the walkability is massively overstated. It's like when poor people go to The Cheesecake Factory and think it's fine dining because the quality is better than McDonald's. The experience of walking in America's most walkable communities is astonishingly worse than that of some random town or city in Europe or East Asia.

Everything.

Did you even read what I wrote? Why are you ascribing to me things I never said? There's a reason why I very specifically stated "the decline in walking (and its causes)". I never claimed to propose any solutions. I understand why people stopped walking in this country. But stop pretending like the resulting decline in walking is based. The reality is pretty obvious and you're denying it out of comfort I guess. If a pack of wolves invaded your village and you dealt with it by locking everyone inside and building tunnels between your homes instead of reclaiming the land you've lived on for generations, that is not based. The tunnels are not based. They're cope and sad.

I have to agree

I never said the decline in walking is "based," I said the walkable cities talking point is retarded
a radical rethinking of our entire model of the world and human development is necessary

This restaurant went bankrupt and closed, the terrace disappeared.
It happens everywhere anon.

How do cattle live like this I'm so incredibly lucky my commute to work is almost free of traffic

No. They lost their outdoor permit google it. This was a city council decision.

Yep. If anyone doubts this, watch these videos:

The last video is a seaside town just south of where I live. It's a tourist destination considered walkable. But you only walk along the main street or go to the beach. All while being surrounded by moving cars. You don't walk further from town because there's no reason to and it's not a good experience. That's every single community where I live. But I have a lot of experience walking in America, especially the unwalkable parts. And especially here in my state. Mostly because I like walking. So I do it. But it's rather uncomfortable. Walking in the Netherlands, France and Japan almost broke my brain.

How do American incelwalk if everywhere is unwalkable? You know where you go out alone and walk around aimlessly for hours while listening to Dan Carlin or something.

Im pretty sure it's one of things where they close off the main street on weekends for outdoor markets and dining then it's used as a normal street on other days of the week. My town does this.

What I don't get about this image is why are all the women white?

woods

Pretty sure it was just COVID vs post-COVID

he thinks it's a meme

For now

The car matters more than the person.
This is why when walking or cycling you must give way to the car. It's 'right of weight'.

The Reno downtown area is very walkable, they even removed traffic lights and give pedestrians automatic right of way everywhere, and miraculously the drivers actually obey it.

Pedestrians and cyclists yield because, in a collision, they are far more likely to be seriously injured or killed. This isn’t about importance — it’s about physics and survival. And what does this have to do with OP's picture?

the real cancers are urbanization and overpopulation
cityfags deserve to live in misery

There's a charter school near me that goes through the same rigamarole. It's the most annoying fucking shit.

Read my first line for the answer to your question.
And you are correct, but in many countries (as shocking as it may be to us) pedestrians don't even look. They have the right of way, and cars stop for them because they are supposed to.

Where do they park?

dutch bros is drive-thru only

bullshit, they all have walk-up counters

This is an extremely important point. I live right down the street from the nearest supermarket, it's theoretically walkable with plenty of nicely curated sidewalk access, but the walk is 20 minutes and absolutely brutal in the hot summer. By contrast it's probably less than 90 seconds by car. Suburbs may have pedestrian access but they're not designed for pedestrians.
