It is, the test period just means that I can get fired for free during this time without them having to justify it, but I get paid regularly.

Yeah there are probably employeers who abuse it, it's not the case for me because I'm not fired and today is the last day and once I started working I joined a long term project that was just starting so it was unlikely in the first place.
In Spain we say "hecha la ley, hecha la trampa" "once the law is created, the cheat is also created", in this case probably many abuse it but it's technically illegal, so it's easy to do it for one or two people but for big companies that would do it with many people they would get caught eventually.

Not at all, I started doing a paid (as in I got paid) learning period and after it I was told I didn't do it to their expectations, they company wasn't using me to cover something up.

Honestly a year is on the higher side, but I find 3 monhts a reasonable amount, if once someone gets hired and he's immediately very hard to fire companies would take a more risk averse approach to hiring and I think that would make unemployment worse.

Cheap red wine that's been heated and had a load of spices dumped into it. I don't like wine in general, but I love mulled wine.

Also, honey wine, if that counts (some people get a little "white chocolate" about it, if you sniff my drift).

I don't have a particular favourite. I just enjoy red wine.

Muga(Rioja), Pesquera(Ribera del Duero). There are several nice origin designation here. Some had great quality/price relation (Cariñena, Campo de Borja, Toro). The first ones you could find a nice bottle starting at 15-20€, while for the other group you'll find absolute bargains under 10€.

Local ones from Bordeaux (Mazails, Haussman) but also from La Rioja or Georgian even.
I also love dry white, especially Riesling.
I HATE overly sweet and tart white like Sauternes or Gewurztraminer.
