Real

it was sovl and had cvltvre, now is a piggie bank for rich Chinese buying properties
What even is modern NYC culture?
youtube.com
Good explanation of the current state of affairs vs back then. And NY culture is the same it's always been. Pizza, Bagels, Basketball, Baseball.
And NY culture is the same it's always been
as an outsider I feel the media coming out of New York has basically died down.
I really can't think of a single relevant NewYork-NewYork media in the last ten years, but maybe I'm just a boomer living in the past
Thinking about it though I think the internet killed any concept of locality in that sense, since I pretty much can't think of any specific regional thing about anywhere, since now everything feels like a brown mush to me
as an outsider I feel the media coming out of New York has basically died down.
I watch and follow some accounts out of NY on youtube tiktok instagram etc but they are mostly niche topics I guess. New York being the center of the world has definitely died down.
dreaming about new york is the most bugman thing imaginable
women dream about new york, omg sis it's just like sex in the city yaaassss!!!
you will never be a 20 something spoiled New-Yorker son of rich businessman in the year 2000 playing Rock in basements and living the bohemian lifestyle with his rich buddies
Literally why live
Lol, NY """culture"""
Hyphenated Americanism and ethnic LARPing doesn't a culture make.
It literally does.
noooooo you can't dream of having fun...... you need to dream about life as a farmer toiling in shit day in and day out with his boring tradwife like me
No, it doesn't. You have no culture, just consumerism.
An area that has an actual localized and organic culture in the U.S would be the South, Southern Appalachia, parts of the Lower Midwest etc. The rest is just rootless mutts LARPing. You don't exist outside of the construct of the federal government of the United States. I, and my people, do.

Hillbillies have more culture than Italian-American
lol no, you are dogshit.
Bros, if you want the 70s-80s NYC life, I've got just the place for you. I just discovered Bogota, Colombia. It has it all - racial diversity, sky scrapers, brick buildings, street hookers, garbage, graffiti, violent crime, etc.
yeah, I'm just stuck on the image from the pre 2000s movies, tv and such
Hillbillies created most forms of American music, the best American literature, most forms of American dancing, the only real native ethnic American cuisine, and the United States of America itself.
Italian-"""Americans""" created bad mob movies and real Italians will never accept you. :)
The difference is NY way mainly white and didn't have reggaytone
Hillbillies created most forms of American music
just insufferabe bluegrass that makes peoples ears bleed.
he best American literature
uhh no? That would be New England.
most forms of American dancing,
What, square dancing? lol.
e only real native ethnic American cuisine,
and it's mid.
and the United States of America itself.
uhh no, that would be New Englanders. You were just army cattle.
What even is modern NYC culture?
Basically the same shit but with some more Puerto Rican influence.
Wrong. Hillbillies invented bluegrass, country, rock and roll and ragtime. Meanwhile, """Italian"""-"""Americans""" invented .... Bhad Babi?
uh no, new england?
Nope. Faulkner, Poe, O'Connor, Hemingway, Fitzgerald etc. None of them New Englanders, either Southerners or Midwesterners. Even the quintessential New England novel, Moby Dick, wasn't written by a New Englander.
mid
It's broadly considered the best food in America, meanwhile the greatest culinary invention of Italian Americans is Fazolis.
muh new england invented it
Nope. Virginia invented America, provided all the early presidents, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and conquered the West.
Keep coping mutt, you have no identity or soul.
:)
While I agree that Appalachians are significant contributers to American cultural legacy, so are Italian-Americans.
The Guido subculture is a distinct thing. It's not Italian, it's something American-born just as much as Appalachian culture.
It formed organically out of melding of Italian and American influences.
Both subcultures add to the richness of America as a whole.
Edgar Allen Poe was a hillbilly
Wow, you are reaching levels of wewuz only before observed in negros, your racial and cultural cousins. Cut from the same cloth, I see.
First of all, there isn't a shared cultural legacy between Appalachians and """Italian""--""Americans"". We are a different people and I have no association beyond existing inside the same empire as Guido Woppolini from Brookline, Massachusetts.
If an """Italian"-"American" wants to be American, he can Americanize his surname, marry into an American family and adopt our traditions. Otherwise, he can leave. The third option is not existing at all; being nothing whatsoever; something divorced from identity entirely, that can't exist outside the matrix of civic nationalism with waxes and wanes with the years.
Edgar Allan Poe was a Virginian and Southerner and considered himself as such, retard lmao.
This shows how you'll never be an American and fundamentally don't understand this country. Go back to Sicily, if they'd even accept you at this point shitskin.
A lot of those fire escapes are very old and rusty, I wouldn't want to hang around on them regularly
We are a different people
I agree. They are different ethnic groups, that coexist under a shared country.
>If an """Italian"-"American" wants to be American, he can Americanize his surname, marry into an American family and adopt our traditions
A lot of them have. But even then I don't think it's necessary.
There's lots of groups in the US that retain distinct subcultures but are still Americans. Do you also consider the Amish complete foreigners just because they've retained some German elements? No, of course not.
They're all just different types of Americans. We have a shared melting pot culture called American culture but we can maintain an enriching cultural mosaic under that shared culture.
Amish
They're quite foreign and they consider themselves to be a separate thing from white Americans. They speak a different language, have a different history and have a different culture. They're Americans, insofar as that term has lost all content and meaning after waves of immigration displaced Old Stock Northerners and left us Southerners on our own.
Distinct subcultures but are still Americans
Yes, American subcultures exist; an Appalachian Southerner and a Gulf Southerner are different subcultures but both American. I wouldn't consider any hyphenated American community to be an American subculture, though, in the ethnic sense of the term. The term has become so diluted though, that I'm okay with abandoning it. I'd prefer to just cede the ground of our creation to the mutts, because the North and federal government is irrecoverable at this point, and secede.
we need to restart the civil war because New Jersians exist
I mean I don't really get it but okay.
I'm from Appalachian heritage too and I think of Italian-Americans as adopted cultural cousins and fellow countrymen. I like that they exist and believe they've been a net positive to our country.
There wouldn't be a civil war with secession today. Americans are way too lazy to actually die for the federal union.
Also, me and you just fundamentally disagree. I see no similarity with them.
You are spamming all over the whole board your theories which, however dubious they may be (and I think they are, also fyi Virginia is hardly culturally southern it's more mid-Atlantic) you don't explain why exactly it makes you "superior" to begin with. why is hillbilly dancing and music better than Irish tap-dance or French ballroom dancing? Why is Hillbilly food better than Pizza and pasta? Why is American pop literature better than .... I don't know, Sherlock Holmes? Or why is it deeper than Don Quixote? Or more spiritual than Dante?
I guess my point being, I don't really care that these things are broadly Southern in-origin. I don't partake in those things in my daily life. My education is only Western, it's not distinctly American and as such I have no reason to care about "Of Mice and Men" better than Shakespeare, of which both I read in English class.
I do know that my goyslop entertainment I love - comic books and 90s/00s TV shows - all come from or are based around New York or LA.
don't get me wrong, I'm not Ezra Pound. Not some anti-American foaming at the mouth. But I'm not super impressed by or drawn in by the stuff you think makes you better. I care more about the civil liberties promised in the constitution than anything you listed.
This entire comment, down to misidentifying Virginia and feeling detached from American culture, is precisely why letting you mutts in was a bad idea.
all of that is irrelevant, big booty latinas
dream Papua New Guinea
rockefeller's son was eaten by cannibal during that time there lmao
any hyphenated American community
Do these really exist? My impression is that past second generation ethnic subcultures don't subsist. Most people who call themselves Italian American or who've German ancestry don't really have any strong ethnic affiliation to their ancestry
This appears to me like some autistic obsessive fixation of yours because I recognize your posts and you've been at this for a very long time
They're the ones who insist they maintain German and Italian traditions and have the right to call themselves German or Italian American, not me.
They get into passionate, embarrassing arguments about it with actual Germans and Italians.
They get into passionate, embarrassing arguments about it with actual Germans and Italians.
Yeah on Anon Babble. Anon Babble isn't real life
You probably underestimate how many second-generation white Americans are out there.
my childhood dream was to live in NYC apartment not even lying
I just like NYC aesthetic
Lol. They do it in real life too. In person, in those peoples countries as well. And on Youtube, Tiktok, Insta, Facebook and all the normie sites as well.
Stop coping, you know this is a thing you mutts do.
