what was biggest sum of money you have lost in any way?
me - 500 euro borrowed to friend, never got it back
What was biggest sum of money you have lost in any way?
IDR 3.5 mil
€7k on a mint condition Saab 9000 like picrel.
Engine caught fire while on the truckbed, being delivered to me. Had no insurance yet.
I don't know, like €40k on stonks.
ouch
Don’t worry, that friend would have cost you much more later in life. 500€ is nothing to get rid of toxic people
I passed out from heat exhaustion in college. Woke up in the hospital. $6k for the hospital stay, $2k for the ambulance.
$2,000 for a trip to the psych ward
In the neighbourhood of USD $50,000 on the stock market when I was young, dumb, and believed the hype of a couple novel cancer treatments in development + I jumped on the green revolution bandwagon 10 years prematurely.
60K. I had a cash savings of $60,000, which I had worked up at job for a few years. Rather than (((buy))) a house (i.e. become a debt slave), take a job, invest, or do anything else with the money, I simply lived on it for two years. For two years, to the day, I just plain didn't feel like working, and I lived as a NEET entirely on my own time, without taking a dime of welfare/public assistance.
During this, I filed one tax return, reporting effectively no income (like $3 of bank interest), in order to get a government rent refund to which I was entitled (not the same thing as welfare). IIRC the tax software forced me to (falsely) report one dollar of public assistance and stupidly I left it. This didn't trigger an audit, but it was flagged and they wanted a very detailed record of my financials before they would approve the refund. I gave them everything they asked for, and in my cover letter I proudly stated that "during the year of 20__, I neither found nor sought employment. I lived entirely on my savings which have consisted and do consist of [x and y bank accounts], here's copies of bank statements, rent checks etc etc." I got my refund a few weeks later, kek. Was always rather proud of that little piece of work, stupid as it may sound. I like to imagine that I wasted some tax man's time and that he got a little snarky because a NEET actually doesn't take any welfare and has the ability to follow detailed instructions and compose a letter. Probably could have avoided it by fixing that stupid mistake though. Anyway.
having 2 year vacation is not "wasting" money im talking about bad investment or stuff like that
When I was really drunk I lost about $500 on a camgirl site when my account was banned because I kept posing racist and anti-semitic music. A small price to pay to break free from chronic drunken gooning.
150K USD of my dad's money. You'll never guess what I blew it on.
hey its like paying for a whore.... kinda, i guess? never understood camgirl billshit but you do you
you do you
I used to quite a bit but not anymore.
I bought $36k worth of doge at 0.73 back in 2021. The price tanked immediately after, and the rest of the crypto bubble popped the next day
Boku no Pico collector items.
I lost some 5000 rupees trading options. I realised the way I did it was essentially just gambling so I stopped doing it after just that one trade.
ouch x2
LOL
haha
The only guaranteed way to get rich with crypto is to pump and dump your own shitty coin to gullible retards.
I took an ugly femcel on some dates and ended up lending her money because she was basically starving.
I pitied her but she was absolutely repulsive and I didn't want to see her ever again so I never bothered to get them back. She has tried reaching out to me but I know if I say yes she'll ask me to meet her to give me my money back. Honestly, if I had to give her more money to make sure she fucks off I would.
no reason to be cruel we all make mistakes
I don't even remember how much I gave her (idgaf about money) but it was probably ~300 euros.
Lost my family's last 5000 Tolars (about 20€) on the way to the store after being explicitly told not to do that.
I may have squandered greater sums in my life (like spending 60€ on mario tennis) but it never hit as hard as that 5000 Tolars. My dad wasn't even mad with me he saw I was too disappointed in myself.
spent around 1k on csgo knife around a year ago (karambit black laminate) and quit as soon as cs2 came out. no idea what its worth now probably a lot less
about 50k moving to another country. fucking stupidest shit ive done
You thought it was a good idea to go back to Mexico?
moving to mexico would be like 2k usd tops and id live like a king there. dont reply to me again, bonobo
pictured: anon with his date
I hope you and your family are doing better financially now
how did you become bankrupt?
americans be like "I went to a hospital"
1k on csgo knife
I lost my wallet with 30-40$ in it while I was drunk at my friend's birthday party. I also lost my Sony Ericsson phone while being drunk in sauna.
Bought a VR headset for ~480$. One of the worst way to spend the money.
5k on stonks. Still cant believe how I was so fucking stupid. I used to laugh at the losers who put money on some useless shit but here we are.
I had to pay a similar amount in college cause I got way too drunk and passed out. It was like 8k total
The one lesson I learned from that was to stay away from hospitals no matter what
This one bothers me the most
Whores, drugs, and gambling may be a waste but I can understand the appeal. People blowing money on a videogame item is beyond insane to me
Gotten into debt (25k Euro) for my Masters during Covid since no job and girlfriend left me. Needed to pay the rent otherwise would have lost the apartment and couldn't complete my studies.
Lost 200€ on a highly leveraged crypto position, i never recovered from that even though i'm up 5-6k overall, still hirts to think about it
Got convinced to blow 500 on AMC meme stocks (they are now at -98% still keeping them as a reminder to never listen to biz)
My friend currently owes me $420 for a couple years now. We aren't hanging out till he gets me it but I'm not hounding him for it because his circumstances are usually rather grim.
About 670 USD on an exam that I didn't study for and did poorly... I had to take it again so about 800 the next time and another year of my life. It was a lot of money for me :')
Paid 12 euros for a dumb bitch's drink on a first date. She said next drink would be on her, she never talked to me again.
It's actually insane how shamelessly bitches will lie for a free drink
I've lost thousands on bad crypto trades but the story i mentioned above annoyed me more
Do normies really pay 12 euros for a glass of liquid? Holy fuck.
Here in Stockholm a normal beer in a normal pub is around €16.
What's even worse was that my drink was only 5 euros
And the bitch wasn't even letting me feel her up or anything. Easily my most miserable dating experience
About same
I put 5 bucks in a shitty steam game I never installed
When I get a job I'll have more money to get scammed out of, for now I still am wary of my expenses
I don't lose money but I do have a spending problem, which is worse.
Lost around 800$ by investing in shitty commercial real estate fund shares. Well technically it is not lost yet since I still hold those shares but the only hope they will ever bounce back is if SMO ends soon.
i am literally doing this right now
i am on month 25 and i hate every minute of it but i just don't have the mental stability to hold a job
